ABOUT QCPL

Queen City Pickleball League is a club-based social league played in the Spring and Fall. With conferences in the North and South, QCPL is the largest league in the Charlotte metro area.

Mixed teams (3 men, 3 women) selected from Club rosters play a combination of men's, women's and mixed doubles on Saturdays, with points awarded for winning games, and bonus points awarded for close games.

Teams play a total of 7 regular season matches, with a post-season Championship between the winners of their respective divisions in the North and South Conferences. At the beginning of the next season, division winners from the previous season move up a division and normally, last place finishers move down a division.

This Spring’s North-South Championship will be played on May 17th, 2025 at Pickleball Charlotte Northlake.

latest news

  • Recent updates to the pickleball rules aim to enhance gameplay and ensure safety for all players. One of the key changes involves the service motion, where servers must now keep one foot behind the baseline until the ball is struck, promoting fairness and consistency. Additionally, the kitchen rule has been clarified, specifying that players cannot volley the ball while standing in the non-volley zone, which helps maintain the flow of the game and reduces instances of confusion. These adjustments reflect the evolving nature of pickleball, ensuring the sport remains enjoyable for both beginners and seasoned players alike.

  • We are excited to introduce a new match format that enhances competitiveness while maintaining fun. Here’s the overview:

    1. Match Length: Best of three games, each to 11 points, winning by 2.

    2. Game Structure: Rally scoring allows both teams to score, making every rally important.

    3. Serving Rotation: Teams alternate serves every 2 points for equal opportunities.

    4. Timeouts: One timed timeout per game can be called when your team serves or during a rally.

    5. Substitutions: Teams can substitute players between games to refresh energy.

Playoffs: If tied at one game each, a final tiebreaker game will be played to 15 points, changing sides at 8 points.

This format aims to create exciting matches and foster camaraderie. Get ready to have fun and enjoy the game!

  • The new season of Queen City Pickleball League is just around the corner, and we couldn't be more excited! With fresh faces joining our community and returning players ready to showcase their skills, this season promises to be a thrilling experience for everyone involved. Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to the game, there's a place for you here. Get ready for competitive matches, friendly rivalries, and plenty of opportunities to improve your game. Let's make this season unforgettable—together!

We’ve moved to a new format this season! Instead of every player playing ONE game with every other player on the match day team, players now play 2 games with each of their teammates of the same gender, and 2 games with their same line opposite-sex teammate.

So every player now plays 6 games in a match instead of 5.

We’ve also updated the match scoring. Instead of just counting wins and losses, we now award 2 ‘game points’ for a win, and a single game point for scoring at least 6 points in a loss.
